In 2013, Malvika Kalra started REHAI in Jammu to help establish respect for animals, to ensure that they are not treated as commodities. Education programmes against animals used for experimentation, food, work and to manufacture products for human consumption are the center of this young organisation’s work. An avid writer, Malvika Kalra’s weekly articles in the English daily Greater Jammu have helped draw public attention to several animal protection issues. Malvika is also the Living Free leader in Jammu. So far, REHAI has spread the word of a responsible and cruelty-free life in schools, colleges, and malls and had given out over 2000 educative booklets in the city.
